Meet Norma and her family

When we travelled around the world for a year between 1999 and 2000 we spent some time in the city of Asuncion. Here we met Norma and Andres, a couple running a small launderette. We kept in contact with them and during the intervening time the launderette was closed due to financial reasons. It is difficult for Norma and Andres to find work, but they don't stop trying.Norma produces beautiful crochet work which we have been selling for her. We also buy some of it for ourselves and give it to our friends. In 2004 we paid for their son, Andresito to have English lessons. Not so he could become cheap labour for the West but so that he could eventually help Paraguay compete on equal terms with the West. In 2005 we now pay for English lessons for Andresito and his cousins Adam and Sarita. Later, we hope to help the school to teach even poorer kids.
